I have a brick in Kenya

Imagine that you wake up in a hot morning and you go to work – hard, physical labor. You work in the burning sun all day, you barely have water to drink but in the evening you already get your money. You take your salary and head to a local pub to drink a beer. And the price of a beer is exactly as much, as your full day payment.
On Rusing Island, in Kenya this is the reality. Just as real, that most of the children are orphans or live with only one of their parents because they have succumbed to AIDS/HIV. These kids have to abandon school which will mark their entire life, taking away the chance to have a better life.

For many of these children, Sargy Education Center represents the only chance to get out of the poverty. In this school, in contrary to government’s schools, there are fewer students in a class. This way, teachers are able to focus on individual needs which translate into students’ better grades. Children are encouraged not only by the good grades but also by many other things: creativity is encouraged, personal development helped; there is also opportunity to try out different sports. Equally important, kids also get a meal per day.

Blythswood Romania supports this school and this community. Csiszér Balázs, the executive director, along with a few donors just have traveled to Rusinga Island to help build the school. They are also bringing with them a donation of almost 5000 Euro, Christian literature, and school uniforms for the kids.

Let’s hope that the donations and the volunteer work will contribute to making a better life for one hundred children. Through the adoption program you can also help a child to finish school and to lead an easier life. If you would like to learn more about Sargy Educational Center, the children, or you would like to get more involved, read this blog or check us out at Facebook.
